two dang rolls down

haven't posted anything in its entirety in a while, nor several days in a row like this. It's a throwback to the golden days of posting. So here are two rolls down. Eventually we'll get to the more fun color stuff.

life of vincent

so as I may or may not have alluded to in a prior post, I recently got back 13 rolls of film in bulk from an Oregonian lab. These are from the second (if ordered alphabetically)(if you could alphabetize a roll of film) roll. One of the rolls was long lost from when boy was but a slight child of 0 years old. It was an abbreviated roll, only 16 pictures. I saw some of the shots and thought well I've come a long way from those days, photographically speaking. And I wonder if I have or not. I try to be thoughtful and ... I try to take shots with an intent, but you can't have a masterpiece for every 125th of a second I think I'm getting at. I guess you can just build and build and build and hope that what happens is worthwhile. I've been happy so far so I continue, if haphazardly. Obviously the days of internet adulation have tapered off, so it's not the "likes" and "comments" that keep me going. Who even blogs anymore anyways? There's an app for that, if you will. Oh well I guess I'm just an internet dinosaur stuck in my own stupid rut.

nc field

I was walking around in this field-- there were those hunting shelters everywhere, like the kind that are elevated, wooden and hastily constructed. Plus these huge buzzards were circling me and at one point one was so close I actually flinched. It was spooky.

with that, 1/13 is down

posted in its entirety. These few were from our old townhouse, which luckily we've moved into an old house with our own yard and whatnot. I am really liking homeownership. I wonder if those economic models that are like rent v. buy take into account how great it feels to not be renting a lousy apartment for the 10th straight year. I was getting pretty down about that, especially with the two fully viable offspring in tow.

time to unkink the blog hose for all my internet bros lol

straight on is always better or is it? That charcoal stained white brick sure does lend itself to middle grey averaging. Glory!

 As does wet weathered wood
why? The bench surface was poured concrete with those three tubes in negative in the interior. Like room for conduit or whatever.

I like to read wikipedia-- who knows if it's all true or not. Kind of besides the point. But anyhow I learned one day that I was not three hours from the birthplace of John Coltrane, the town, Hamlet (allegedly) is like due south of my address and one of my favorite things is to drive to little towns by the scenic route and try to creep out the locals with my equipment and wardrobe and sneak photos and beers, the former by the dozens and the latter by the few, especially when solo. Best to stay under .08 which I try to stay pretty strict about. It was a rainy day and the town smelled like diesel (it's a railroad switching town or something of the sort), which I may have relayed in a past post. But I took a few pictures. Didn't see the saxophone statue but JC kind of booked it ASAP out of town with the Navy I think it was (again, allegedly) and maybe didn't send any love back, like ever. So maybe they're salty, or maybe they aren't aware, or maybe I just missed it. But I think I consider him one of the best to ever do it (it in this case being American art of any stripe) so it was cool to go pay my respects, however disrespectfully.
Just got 13 rolls back from the lab (Citizens in Portland mail order) and only like half of them appear damaged so points to Citizens? I should have been a welder or something.
Hope everyone's cool!
